My name is Lim Kim Seng. I am a licensed (by Singapore Tourism Board) nature tour guide based in Singapore and I also have an MSc in Environmental Management (University of Adelaide). I specialize in birds but am also conversant with other aspects of natural history. I have been birding since I was ten years old and hope to be able to offer you an introduction to Singapore's spectacular birds, wildlife and natural scenery. Whether it's a short three hour slot or an intensive three-day tour, you will be amazed at what you can discover in a short amount of time in tiny but terrific Singapore!
In terms of books, I have written eight: Vanishing Birds of Singapore (1992), Birds: An Illustrated Field Guide to the Birds of Singapore (1997), illustrated by my good friend and famous American bird artist, Dana Gardner, State of Singapore's Wild Bird and Bird Habitats (2009), with my brother, Kim Chuah, The Avifauna of Singapore (2009), A Field Guide to the Birds of Singapore (2010), a pocket photographic guide with wonderful portraits of birds by my friend and famous bird photographer, Jimmy Chew, A Field Guide to the Birds of Malaysia and Singapore (2020), co-authored with my brother Kim Chuah and my good friend, Yong Ding Li, and illustrated by my old friend, Dana Gardner, A Field Guide to the Birds of Singapore (2023) and A Field Guide to the Birds of Malaysia (2024), the last two books with the same 2020 team, in addition to several checklists. I have also written many articles and conservation proposals. Going forward, my goal is to learn as much as I can about birds and other wildlife of Singapore and Southeast Asia, and share this knowledge with as many people as possible. |
